Dr. Kumar has nine years of experience in the financial services industry with extensive experience in equity research, financial modeling and valuation, business strategy planning, and corporate governance. Prior to becoming an advisor to MainStream in 2007, Mr. Kumar was a top executive with Balaji Finance Corporation in Chennai, India for five years. At Balaji Finance, he developed financial quantitative models and was the team lead in equity research units and monitored credit administration. Dr. Kumar's role as a MainStream advisor includes financial consultancy, preparation of financial models and valuation, and M&A advisory services. Mr. Kumar provides critical data and analysis by driving financial research innovation while managing functional teams to achieve business goals.
After Dr. Kumar earned his Masters in Business Administration degree in Finance from Madras University, he completed MPhill in Management from Alagappa University. In order to blend his financial experience with corporate governance ratings and methodology, he earned his doctorate (PhD) in Finance from the National Institute of Technology (NIT-T) and was awarded the prestigious ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research) scholarship with his thesis on “Construction of Corporate Governance Ratings and its Applicability in Evaluation of Firm Performance”. In addition, Mr, Kumar has attended eighteen management conferences and published nine papers in leading national and international management journals. He has also obtained distinction in three quantitative papers at the university level.
