Al W. Ryan – Senior Management Consultant
Mr. Al W. Ryan has over 30 years experience as a senior service executive in both Europe and the United States. He possesses deep expertise in service and security related mergers & acquisitions, performance improvement and turnaround. He has more than ten years of experience in providing expert guidance to troubled and underperforming companies regarding critical financial and operational issues including asset recovery, corporate dispositions, rapid cost reduction, performance improvement, and corporate turnarounds. Mr. Ryan played a key role in engineering numerous successful corporate renewal projects working with major banks, private equity, asset based lenders, creditor committees, corporate directors, shareholders and trustees.
Mr. Ryan joined MainStream Management in 2002 as a Senior Management Consultant within the company’s Turnaround & Restructuring and Performance Improvement practices. As part of MainStream’s performance improvement senior leadership team he has been responsible for developing the “Service Business” Lean Service practice. In addition, while at MainStream, Mr. Ryan has completed operational due diligence programs on more than 30 service companies.
While at MainStream Mr. Ryan has worked as project lead on a number of large scale projects. Most recently, Mr. Ryan was project lead on engagement with BAE Systems Americas. Mr. Ryan managed the development of a supply chain management program for the company. BAE had recently been awarded a $500 million contract from the Department of Defense to provide 1,400 mine resistant ambush protective (MRAP) troop transport vehicles within a seven month time frame.
Mr. Ryan has also assisted in a number of wind down and company sales including engagements with Wilcox & Gibbs (an Atlanta based international manufacturer and distributor of sewing machines), Atlantic Extrusion (a New England based leading provider of plastic components), and Michel’s Furniture, (a Southeast based furniture manufacturing company).
In addition, Mr. Ryan was project lead on an engagement with a leading food service and food processing equipment manufacturer. Mr. Ryan assisted the company in establishing a national service organization which included a dispatch center, technical support operations, formal training process, parts distribution, employee development program, and service system with total service processes and procedures.
Prior to joining MainStream, Mr. Ryan served as a Vice President of LeFebure Corp., a company serving the cash handling and security industry. Mr. Ryan managed the national installation and service organizations which consisted of over 450 individuals as well as an internal support team.
Mr. Ryan also served as a Vice President / General Manager of ADT’s Bank Service Operations group. In this role he developed Physical Security Operations for the company with a primary focus on the banking sector. During his time at ADT he hired and trained more than 600 service technicians.
Mr. Ryan began his career with Mosler, Inc. as a R&D Electronics Technician and Service Representative and after numerous promotions Mr. Ryan became Vice President. In this role he led installation and service efforts both domestically and internationally. He successfully managed a 1,200 technician work force generating $150 million in annual revenues.
Mr. Ryan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Union College in Cincinnati, Ohio and has completed Miami University of Ohio’s Executive and Corporate Development Programs.
