Donald D. Gimberline

Mr. Donald D. Gimberline is a seasoned executive with over 20 years experience in the newspaper, printing, and communications industries. He has served as a group publisher, general manager, and advertising director for a number of major publishing groups. Most recently Mr. Gimberline has engaged in special projects; one of these projects is the serving as the Interim Executive Director of the Association of Free Community Papers.
Mr. Gimberline joined MainStream Management in 2011 as a Senior Industry Consultant - Media & Communications. His proven ability to increase newspaper revenues and circulation are complimentary to MainStream Management’s deep operations experience.
Prior to joining MainStream Management, Mr. Gimberline was the General Manager of Woodward Printing Services (Platteville, WI). Woodward Printing Services is a commercial web and sheet-fed printing division of Woodward Communications, Inc. Mr. Gimberline was responsible for reversing the fortunes of this troubled division increasing revenues and improving overall productivity.
Mr. Gimberline took over as General Manager at Woodward Printing Services after serving as Group Publisher of the Unified Newspaper Group (Oregon, WI), also owned by Woodward Communications. While at Unified he provided direction and leadership to a group of five publications resulting in increased circulation and advertising revenues, and improved profitability as well as earning a number of industry awards.
Prior to joining Woodward Communications, Inc., Mr. Gimberline was General Sales Manager at a publication of Gazette Communications (Cedar Rapids, IA). Mr. Gimberline was responsible for all phases of the subsidiary’s operations including, but not limited to, budgeting, setting and achieving sales goals, determining promotions, developing of new products, and coordinating commercial web, sheet-fed, and direct mail marketing efforts with other Gazette Communications subsidiaries. Major accomplishments included accelerating advertising revenues and expanding circulation.
Mr. Gimberline also served as Ogden Newspaper’s Advertising Director (Des Moines, IA) and General Manager for Hagadone Corporation (Sioux City, IA). While General Manager at Hagadone Corporation he achieved 13 consecutive months of revenue increases. In both of these companies Mr. Gimberline was responsible for sales and advertising revenue generation. His management ability and sales development skills created increasing recognition in the industry and more responsible job opportunities.
Mr. Gimberline began his career as Sales Manger at Shopper Enterprises, Inc. (Albert Lea, MN) and was soon promoted to General Manager. As General Manager he recruited, trained and directed staff consisting of outside and inside sales, circulation and office staff.
Mr. Gimberline graduated from Mankato State University. He is an active member of a number of industry associations including the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and the Association of Free Community Papers. He has received numerous awards including a distinguished Service Award from the Association of Free Community Papers.
