Leadership Team
Timothy J. Hutzel - Managing Director of Research
Mr. Hutzel is a thirty-six year veteran of industrial manufacturing, engineering and management. His background forms a unique blend of the "technical" and "organizational," providing skills beyond the normal scope of traditional Lean implementers who focus only on Kaizen or Lean "events." Mr. Hutzel was responsible for Lean at GE Aircraft Engines and was mentored by Shingijutsu experts Nakao and Iwata in Japan.
Mr. Hutzel is credited with discovering the missing link to the continued success of Lean. He found that for a successful Lean transformation it was imperative to be treated as an organizational development initiative, not simply a series of Lean events with the hopes that the organization would eventually "get it." Mr. Hutzel’s point of view on Lean has been instrumental in the development of MainStream's proven methodology for transforming white collar, grey collar, and blue collar organizations; improving quality, cost, delivery, and customer satisfaction.
Mr. Hutzel’s manufacturing experience is supplemented by a manufacturing engineering degree from Miami University (Ohio) and also a post graduate degree in organizational development from Bowling Green State University.
